How the bag is built
The body is one piece of thick felt, cut and folded so the bottom carries the bottle weight without a separate gusset that can tear. The embossed wine glass pattern is pressed into the front face before assembly. It's subtle in person, more texture than print, and it doesn't crack or flake off like a surface coating would.
The handles are the part we care about most. Each one is doubled over and fixed with a rivet on both ends. That spreads the load across four attachment points instead of two. You can carry a full bottle by one handle and the bag won't sag or start to tear at the seam. The top edge is finished clean, so there's no raw felt rubbing against the bottle neck.
How the bottle sits
The bag is cut to hold a standard 750 ml wine bottle with a little room for the neck and foil. Champagne and most whiskey bottles fit too, since the felt has some give. The bottle should rest on the bottom, not hang from the neck. That's what keeps the bag from stretching out of shape. Does the felt shed or leave fibers on the bottle?
Not in normal use. We use a dense felt that resists pilling. The inside is not brushed, so it doesn't leave lint on the glass. If you're concerned, we can add a thin lining, but most buyers find it unnecessary.
