Wine Boxes and Box-and-Bag Sets
Wine boxes and box-and-bag sets solve the same problem two ways. You need protection for the bottle, and you need a presentation that holds up when someone carries it out of the store or hands it across a table. A set does both without making you source from two suppliers. The box handles structure and brand surface. The bag handles the last mile, the part where a customer walks down the street with your label facing outward.
Most buyers come to us with a bottle shape and a price point. They know the bottle weight and the label size. What they don't always know is which structure will survive a courier van that gets loaded three times before it reaches the customer. That's where we start: the insert, the board, the closure, the drop. Get those right and the rest is decoration.

How to choose
Start with the bottle, not the box. A 750 ml Burgundy bottle is wider at the shoulder than a Bordeaux. A sparkling bottle is heavier and the punt changes how it sits. If you send us a sample bottle, we build the insert around it. If you only have dimensions, we ask for the diameter at the widest point and the total height. Getting this wrong means a bottle that rattles or a flap that won't close.
Then decide how the box will be handled. A gift set sold on a shelf gets picked up, turned over, opened. A shipping box gets dropped, stacked, maybe kicked by a forklift. For the first, a rigid magnetic closure or a drawer box with a ribbon pull works. For the second, corrugated with a foam insert and a handle cutout is the safer call. A foldable cardboard box can do both if the creases are scored right.
Finally, think about what the bag adds. A paper bag with a twisted handle is cheap and quick. A felt or canvas bag becomes part of the gift, something people keep. A leather bag with a PU handle says premium before the box is even opened. The bag and box should feel like one product, not two items thrown into a carton. We can match the facing paper on the box to the bag material or print the same logo on both.
Buyer questions
Can I get a box and a matching bag from the same supplier?
Yes. We make both in-house, so the facing paper, logo placement and colour can be matched exactly. You don't have to coordinate two vendors or risk a shade mismatch between the box and the bag.
What if my bottle is an unusual shape or size?
Send us a sample bottle or the exact dimensions. We build the insert around the widest point and the total height. The four-point hold rule still applies. A bottle that's wider at the shoulder needs a different insert than a straight-sided bottle.
How do I know the box will survive shipping?
We run our in-house checks on every order: a 1.2 m six-face drop test with the bottle loaded, a 40 kg stacking load for 24 hours, and vibration simulation for truck and sea freight. If the bottle moves or the box deforms, we fix the structure before it leaves.
What we control
We use greyboard at 1200 g minimum for wine boxes, and 1400 g if the bottle is a heavy spirit or the box will be stacked. Facing paper is 157 g specialty or coated stock. No recycled greyboard, no high-moisture paper that warps in a humid warehouse. The insert holds the bottle at four points. No unsupported neck or shoulder. We shake the loaded box for 10 seconds and check for movement. We tilt it 45 degrees and check for slide. We invert it. If the bottle moves, we adjust the insert.
Our control tolerance is plus or minus 1 mm on the insert and plus or minus 2 mm on the box body. For foldable boxes, the creases must not crack when folded, the magnets sit within plus or minus 1 mm of the marked position, and the corners come to 90 degrees when erected. Colour is held to Pantone references, with first-article approval and mid-run sampling. Black, deep blue and burgundy are the hardest to hold, so we pull extra samples on those. Before anything ships, we run our in-house checks: a 1.2 m six-face drop test with the bottle loaded, a stacking top load of 40 kg or more for 24 hours, and truck and sea vibration simulation with no internal movement. These are not lab tests. They're what we do on every run because a box that fails in the field costs you more than the box itself.
