How the box is built

Leather over a rigid base is what makes up the shell. That construction gives you the outside texture you're after, plus enough stiffness inside to protect the bottles. The orange finish goes onto the leather, with black trim running along the edges and handle. The handle is leather too. It's wide enough that it doesn't cut into your hand when carrying.

Inside, you get a straightforward layout. Two bottle compartments sit side by side. Over the bottles, a strap crosses and holds them from moving. The left panel is a recessed tray for the wine tools, while a metal latch holds the lid shut. The whole thing is built so when you open and close it repeatedly, the corners don't soften.

Bottle fit and carrying

Because the box is sized for two standard 750ml wine bottles, the compartments match the bottle shape and the strap presses down on the shoulder area. Will this box fit wider Burgundy style bottles?

Cut for standard 750ml Bordeaux style bottles is what the standard version is. But if you use Burgundy or other wider bottles, during sampling we can adjust the compartment size and strap position. Send us your bottle dimensions or a sample bottle, and the insert gets matched to it.

Can I order the box without the wine tools?

Yes. The left panel can sit empty or be replaced with a different accessory set. If you want a simpler interior, we can take out the tool tray entirely. That leaves just the two bottle compartments. It also changes the overall cost, so when you request a quote, tell us your preference.

Is the leather handle strong enough for a full box?

With a leather handle stitched to the box body, this package is built for carrying. We test the box loaded with two bottles, including a 1.2 m drop test and a 40 kg top load for 24 hours. In those tests, the handle isn't the weak point. Should you expect unusually heavy use, though, we can reinforce the stitching.
